PASADENA>> New Mayor Terry Tornek issued his first proclamation in recognition of National Day of Prayer at the 42nd annual interfaith prayer breakfast Thursday morning

The proclamation honoring prayer day “serves to remind and encourage us all to renew our nation’s commitment to peace, to economic and social justice, to civil liberties, to our environment, and to human rights,” Tornek said at the breakfast.

Approximately 400 people attended the breakfast at the Pasadena Convention Center.

The event organized by the non-profit Friends in Deed brings together religious leaders, local dignitaries and residents for a reflection on the state and future of Pasadena.

The Rev. Jerry Campbell, retired president of Claremont Lincoln University, spoke about “Uniting Pasadena.”
