Transforming the Land

The Stupa of Enlightenment Project was begun by Geshe Sherap and students of Land of Enlightened Wisdom center in Pomona.  The planning stage began in late 2012 and in early 2013 a fund raising project began to commission the building of the Stupa of Enlightenment with a stupa maker in Indonesia.

To begin, a 3 feet deep, 12 foot circumference had to be dug in the earth and filled with a gravel mix where the stupa would stand for strong foundation. Next the framework for the cement foundation above ground was created and filled with the cement.  Another phase was preparing the garden areas for  the arrival of stupa.

The monks and students attended the  weekend workshops to learn how to make tsa tsas and roll mantras that would be used to fill the five sections of the stupa.

The Stupa of Enlightenment was erected at the Land of Enlightened Wisdom center in Pomona, California, on November 23, 2013 to bless the environment and all the sentient beings.
