LAMA TSONGKHAPA DAY - GURU PUJA
 

 

 

Lama Je Tsongkhapa is revered as a well known Tibetan scholar, saint and teacher. Lama Je Tsongkhapa (1357-1419) was born in Amdo, in northeast Tibet.

He is founder of the Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, built on the foundations of the Kadampa tradition, the legacy of Atisha.

SEPTEMBER WEEKENDS 2013
TSA TSAS AND MANTRA ROLLING WORKSHOPS
   

Volunteers learned to make Tsa Tsas from molds and scent mantra with saffron and then roll the many mantras into large rolls to be placed in the Stupa of Enlightment.

When the mantras have all been rolled,  the volunteers will have collectively rolled over 1 million mantras.

TIBETAN MODERN BEGINNING LANGUAGE CLASS
VENERABLE TENZIN THUTOP
     
The guest teacher, Venerable Tenzin Thutop, has been teaching the Tibetan language to Westerners, at every level, since 1999.
 
Ven. Thutop gave four refresher classes for students who have an interste in learning the Tibetan Language.
 
Students listened to the Tibetan song Konshey by Lobsan Delek to help students recognize the Tibetan sounds as we read the words.

TARA INITIATION 
Tulku Gocha Rinpoche
   
 
Venerable Gocha Rinpoche is from Gaden Jangtse Monastery. He is also the founder and supreme head of the Tawu Nyi Tso Monastery in Sinchuan, Tibet.
 
Gocha Rinpoche teaches in India, Taiwan and USA. He is the 5th Reincarnation of Gocha Lineage, recognized by HH the 14th Dalai Lama. 
 
   
 
The Tara Sadhanna is a very important practice and will be now more effective after Rinpoche has kindly bestowed the Tara Initiation.

TSA TSA WORKSHOP
   
Saturday: Students will learn mantras and pour material into Tsa Tsa Molds. They will dry overnight. Students will paint mantras with saffron water.
 
Sunday: Artist/Teacher, Yeshi Dorjee will demonstrate the painting on the eyes of the diety and mantras on the back on the Tsa Tsa. Students can paint their own diety.
 
It is necessary to prepare yourself to make the Tsa Tsas by eating vegetarian (no meat) on Saturday and Sunday

THE MEANING OF THE STUPA
 
   
Teacher/Artist, Yeshi Dorjee taught The Meaning of the Stupa on two Saturday afternoons.
 
Each level of the Stupa represents an aspect of the Buddhas's teachings.
 
The Stupa Handout explains the concepts so when we view the Stupa, we can bring the teachings and their meaning into our awareness.

SAKA DAWA DUCHEN
   
Saka Dawa is one of the most important sacred Buddhist days. Saka Dawa is the day of Buddha's birth, enlightenment and parinirvana. The whole fourth Tibetan month, usually May or June is celebrated. On the full moon day of this month, Buddha had performed three most important deeds, he was born, attained enlightenment and parinnivana. 
 
 
During this month people place special emphasis on dharma practice like circumambulation of Monasteries and Stupa, prostrations, taking precepts, reciting mantras, offering mandalas, doing sadhanas and saving animals lives. All the merits will be multiplied 100,000 times from our dharma practices.
 
This year Sawa Dawa begins on Friday, May 10, 2013- Saturday, June 9, 2013

STUPA FUNDRAISER WITH DR. LUO 
QING YANG EXERCISE
   
Dr Luo, a Jun Qing physician shared his nearly three decades of clinical experience and health knowledge with students and guests of Land of Enlightened Wisdom.
 
His hope is people will be more healthy and happy. Dr Luo will give a small introduction class on how to take care of our health through eating and exercising at home daily.
 
He will demonstrate some of the exercises to improve the health and then do consultation and treatments for those who are interested.
 
Dr. Luo will be back again at the center in April if you missed this event.

Day of Buddha Shakyamuni's Great Miracles at Sharvasti
 
The Day of Miracles is one of the four great deeds of the Buddha, is celebrated on the 15th day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar, in observance of the Buddha’s performance of miracles.
 
Geshe Sherap will lead students in the recitation of "A Praise of the Twelve Exemplary Deeds of The Lord Buddha.
 
 
 
"Homage to you who, with virtues unequalled in the three worlds, manifested the Great Miracle at Sharvasti and cause the Doctrine to be greatly enhanced by the reverence of gods, humans and all other beings"

This program is designed for students interested in learning the basic concepts, principles and practices of Tibetan Buddhism. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the foundational concepts of Tibetan Buddhism.
 
Deepening your understanding of the Four Noble Truths, the Twelve Links of Dependent Arising and Three Principle Paths, which are important foundational concepts that are presented in this Beginning Level Program series.
