BLESSING OF THE STATUE OF HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA
 

 
 
Lama Je TsongKapha was the founder of the Gelupa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, built on the foundations of the Kadampa tradition, the legacy of Atisha.  
 
Gaden Nagchu celebrates the accomplishments of the saint and scholar Lama Je Tsongkapha and the numerous texts written in his lifetime.  
 
 
 
 

Lam Rim Chenmo - The Great Exposition of the Stages of the Path is one of his most respected texts.

SCHEDULE FOR SUNDAY:

10:30 am  -  GURU PUJA lead by Gocha Tulku and Geshe Sherap.  

11:30 am  -  BLESSING OF THE STATUE of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. 

12:00 pm  -  POTLUCK -  Students are invited to attend a potluck at noon following the puja and blessing. Bring your favorite dish, fruit, bread, drink or dessert.

2:30 pm  -  THE 400 STANZAS OF THE MIDDLE WAY - Class will be taught by Geshe Tenzin Sherap.

CREATION OF THE STATUE OF HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA
TIBETAN MASTER ARTIST, KALSANG LODOE OSHOE
 

 
 
Tibetan Master Artist, Kalsang Lodoe Oshoe is creating a statue of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Land of Enlightened Wisdom center in Pomona, California during the month of November.
 
The Land of Enlightened Wisdom Gompa is currently blessed with Master Artist Oshoe's statues of Arya Tara and  
 
 
Lord Buddha Shakyamuni which he created during past visits to Pomona.
 
Master Artist Oshoe has created many statues for almost fifty years and he has drawn many pictures of His Holiness the Dalai Lama but this is the first time he has created a statue of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. The statue will be blessed on the auspicious day of  Gaden Nagchu, on December 2, 2018.

TIBETAN MASTER ARTIST, KALSANG LODOE OSHOE
 

 
 
Tibetan Master Artist, Kalsang Lodoe Oshoe is creating a statue of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Land of Enlightened Wisdom center in Pomona, California during the month of November. Geshe Tenzin Sherap commissioned the statue to made for the Prayer Hall in the center and the long life of HHDL.
 
The Land of Enlightened Wisdom Gompa is currently blessed with Master Artist Oshoe's statues of Arya Tara and  Lord Buddha Shakyamuni which he created during past visits to Pomona.

TWENTY-ONE PRAISES TO TARA

Geshe Tenzin Sherap lead the chanting of The Twenty-One Praises to Tara on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 with Kalsang Oshoe to commemorate the anniversary of Lord Buddha's descent to teach his mother  in the Heaven of the Thirty Three.   Wanting to repay her kindness to him, he taught for three summer months for her to achieve enlightenment.

NAGAJURNA'S LETTER TO A FRIEND

Geshe Tenzin Sherap began teaching the Saturday class on October 6, 2018. The great Indian Buddhist master Nagarjuna wrote his celebrated poem "Letter to A Friend" as a gift of advice to a South Indian Kind and it has since become a monument in the Indian shastra tradition.

The One Hundred and Twenty Three verses cover the whole Mahayana path, combining a practical approach to daily conduct with a theoretical exposition of the different stages leading to enlightenment.

First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma
Guru Puja lead by Gocha Tulku and Geshe Sherap
 

   

Chokhor Duchen commemorates the First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma, Buddha's first sermon and teaching of the Four Noble Truths on the site where the stupa Dhammacaakkappavattan Sutta was errected in Sarnath, India.

Geshe Sherap and Gocha Tulku lead the Guru Puja on Monday July 16, 2018. It was about one hour in length and was recited in English.

Gocha Tulku and Geshe Tenzin Sherap will lead the Medicine Buddha Puja at 10:30am. It is about one hour in length and is recited in English.

Sunday at 12:00pm

Vegetarian Potluck will follow the Medicine Buddha puja, please bring your favorite dish, bread, dessert or drinks to share.

Gocha Tulku returns from overseas to teach students at Land of Enlightened Wisdom, the fundamental mind training text called the "Seven Point Mind Training".  

Gocha Tulku gave a brief introduction on the text written by the Great Kadampa, Geshe Chekawa on February 3 and 10, 2018 and returned to offer this course between June 2, 2018 until August 11, 2018.

These Lojong texts belong to Mahayana Buddhism. Text

Gocha Tulku and Geshe Sherap will lead students in the recitation of the Avalokiteshvara Sadhana at 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 29th.

 
 


Saka Dawa commemorates the anniversary of the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana, all of which took place on the 15th day of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar. Saka Dawa is traditionally celebrated for one full month; any virtuous acts performed during this month are multiplied 100,000 times.

This level of course covers a wide range of important Buddhist concepts, principles and practices designed for beginner-level students and practitioners interested in Buddhism, especially Tibetan Buddhism.

This level course covers the foundational concepts: The four seals, the four noble truths, what are the three jewels and what it means to take proper refuge in the three jewels.  This class began on Saturday, May 12, 2018 and is ongoing.

FOUR HUNDRED STANZAS OF THE MIDDLE WAY
     

Geshe Sherap will continue with "Chapter 9 - Refuting Permanent Functional Phenomena" in Aryadeva's Four Hundred Stanzas", as part of the 2018 Teaching Program.

Madhyamika is a philosophy of the middle way between two impossible extremes, that of reified or objective existence  and that of total non-existence.

Madhyamika philosophy demonstrates through the use of reasoning that though things do not exist independently and concretely as they seem to do, they neverless exist: their mode of existence is a dependent one.

SEVEN POINT MIND TRAINING
   

Gocha Tulku introduced the Seven Point Mind Training text to students on February 03, and 1o, 2018.  Rinpoche returned in May, 2018 and to continue teaching the course on Mind Training in June and July of 2018. (Text)

Great Kadampa, Geshe Chekawa, authored the fundamental mind training text called the "Seven Point Mind Training".

There are over one hundred mind training texts; all of which specialize on taming our mind and cultivating Bodhicitta or the altruistic mind of enlightenment.

ROOT OF THE MIDDLE WAY
 

Geshe Tenzin Sherap will continue with "Chapter 9 - Analysis of Prior Existence on Friday, February 02, 2018 of  "The Great Commentary of the Nagarjurna's Root of the Middle Way" by Mabja Jangchub Tsondru, as part of the 2018 Teaching Program. There are 27 Chapters is this text.

Geshe Tenzin Sherap's  teaching of this text is the second presentation at Land of Enlightened Wisdom which began with "Chapter 1 - Analysis of Conditions"  on Friday, October 23, 2015

Gocha Tulku continues with discussions with students from December 2017.  Rinpoche discussed the history and meaning of the 21 Praises of Tara.
